Reunification Therapy & Supervised Visitation

(Reunification will be discontinued January 1st, 2025)

The typical reunification therapy structure follows such format:

Phase 1: 2-4 sessions with custodial parent, 2-4 sessions with noncustodial parent, 2-4 individual meetings with the child (ren), and review of materials.

Phase 2: Based on age and various circumstances, begin sessions with the child, parents, and other family members who will be directly involved to improve communication, heal past hurts, establish goals for healthy relationships, and re-establish a positive and fun connection.

These sessions can vary from 6-20+ all depending on how severe the problems are and how supportive the other parent is of the process.

Phase 3: Sessions are spaced out weekly or are scheduled “offsite” at fun locations, so the parent and child can have more natural interactions (at parks, museums, restaurants etc.). In home evaluations are typically conducted during this portion of the reunification phase.

Phase 4: Evaluation of continuity regarding reunification therapy.  Assessment is completed to assess the progression or lack thereof in therapy.  All parties are brought together to provide input in.
